Why SAGE

Marks were never the point.

An exam is the most detailed record a school has of how each student thinks. Teachers know how much is in it, but nobody has the hours to read every page that closely for every student. We built SAGE so every paper gets that reading.

The name

Four words, one promise.

  1. Student

    The student comes first. Every report is written to them, about their own answers, in words that suit their class.

  2. Analytics

    Careful reading of what is actually on the page, criterion by criterion, with the evidence kept beside every mark.

  3. Growth

    Feedback that points somewhere. What went well, what to work on, and one thing to do this week.

  4. Excellence

    Marking held to the school's own standard, no more generous and no harsher, and checked by a teacher before it counts.

Teachers know what careful, personal feedback looks like. Nobody has the hours to write it for every answer on every paper. Every student should get it anyway.

How we build SAGE

    Teachers have the final word

    SAGE drafts. Teachers decide. Nothing reaches a student until a teacher has finalised it, and every change is kept on record.

    Honest about uncertainty

    When SAGE can't read something clearly, it says so and says where. A guess dressed up as a mark helps no one.

    The school's standard, not ours

    Answers are marked against the school's own question paper and marking scheme. SAGE adapts to your exams, not the other way round.

    Nothing disappears

    Original photos, earlier revisions and past reports stay available. Anyone can trace a mark back to the handwriting it came from.

    Made for real classrooms

    Curled booklets, staffroom lighting, patchy Wi-Fi and a phone in one hand. SAGE was built for the conditions teachers actually work in.
